A CHAIN store retailer has confirmed that its 'prime' Carlisle city centre store has shut for good.

A sign has recently appeared on the Cotswold outdoor shop, on English Street, to say that "this store is now closed" and the nearest outlet is now on Main Street, Keswick.

Fears had been raised in April after a 'To Let' sign appeared on the shop after it closed in the lockdown.

London based estate agent HRH Retail is handling the process.

On its website it states that the store is: "Occupying a prime trading location within pedestrianised English Street immediately adjacent to Yours and Clydesdale Bank with multiple retailers nearby including Boots, Marks & Spencer’s, River Island & WHSmith."

"The premises are arranged over ground, first and second floors.

"The property is available on a new effectively full repairing and insuring lease for a term to be agreed at a commencing rent of £85,000 per annum exclusive."

The News & Star has tried to contact the retailer and estate agent but have not yet received a comment.
