A proposal to hold an event in Whitehaven to encourage people into the town will be discussed this week.
Whitehaven town council is due to discuss the proposal during a remote meeting, held via conferencing platform Zoom, on Friday at 6pm.
The proposal, put forward by Gerard Richardson, who is a member of the authority’s events advisory group, would consist of an exhibition. It would see a series of historical images or artefacts in shop windows around Whitehaven. Leaflets about the town would also be distributed.
Eleven shops have already indicated they would be interested in taking part, including McDowells, Dixons Department Store and Little Whims.
The cost is estimated to be about £2,700 and would take about three weeks to organise.
