YESTERDAY was the first day since the middle of March that there have been no new coronavirus admissions at Bradford Royal Infirmary (BRI).

Leading Bradford doctor, Professor John Wright, posted on social media website, Twitter, this afternoon to reveal the news.

He declared it a day of "great celebration", as yesterday proved to be the first day with no admissions to BRI for the COVID-19 virus since Monday, March 16 -  a whole 16 weeks ago.

It comes after NHS England's daily update showed there was one new reported death from coronavirus at a hospital in the Bradford district.

The single death from the COVID-19 virus was reported today, but happened on Sunday, July 5, at BRI.

There were no further deaths at Airedale General Hospital and Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust.

Yesterday there were no new reported deaths at any of the hospitals in the Bradford district.

The total death toll at hospitals in the Bradford district now stands at 338 - 228 at BRI, 108 at Airedale and two at Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust.

NHS England announced three patients at hospitals in the North East and Yorkshire who tested positive for the coronavirus (COVID-19) have died.

All three were reported in hospitals in Yorkshire and the Humber.

One of those was in West Yorkshire (BRI), there was one in South Yorkshire (Barnsley) and one at the Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust, which runs Pontefract Hospital, Pinderfields Hospital in Wakefield, Dewsbury and District Hospital and community health services in Wakefield.

There were an extra 15 deaths reported today across England, taking the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in the country to 28,904.

Patients in today's update were aged between 42 and 93-years-old. 

All patients had underlying health conditions.

Their families have been informed.
