A GROUP has been supporting older residents by creating and delivering bespoke ‘Boredom Buster’ packs.
The Rotary Club of Cockermouth wanted to do its bit after lockdown started.
Member Sally Scales said: “Many people are shielding because of their age or long term health conditions. They’ve been in their homes for a long time.
“So we came up with a plan and asked for donations. We wanted to create a gift box to relieve boredom, pass time and help keep the cogs moving.”
Each box contains a range of goods, including books, magazines, puzzles, jigsaws and sweets, and a personal note. Recipients have been referred by club members, Age UK West Cumbria and Castlegate and Derwent Surgery.
Anyone wanting to make a referral to the Boredom Box scheme should email: secretary@cockermouth.rotary1190.org.
