Prime Minister Boris Johnson has called the Covid-19 pandemic "a disaster for the UK" in an interview with The Times Radio.
The PM said that it is a time for investment into the UK economy following the Covid-19 outbreak and the effects on small businesses of lockdown.
The Office for National Statistics reported a 20.4 per cent decline in the UK’s economy in April.
Mr Johnson said: "This has been an absolute nightmare for the country, the country has gone through a profound shock but in those moments you have an opportunity to change and to do things better."
The Prime Minister promised to invest in education as well as infrastructure such as transport and broadband.
