A man is to appear in court after being charged with possession of an air weapon with intent to cause fear of violence.

Police were called to an incident at Appleby on Friday at 7.15pm, to a report that a man had entered a house on Scattergate Close brandishing an air pistol.

The occupants were not believed to be injured, and officers seized an air pistol which was found nearby.

A 46-year-old Appleby man was charged with possession of an air weapon with intent to cause fear of violence.

He is due to appear at magistrates court today.
