CUMBRIA'S coronavirus death toll has risen for the second consecutive day - with 157 patients now confirmed as fatalities at the NHS trust which runs The Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle and West Cumberland Hospital in Whitehaven.
The Covid-19 death toll for the county has been revised upwards for the second time this week.
Two of the three deaths added to the total today by North Cumbria Integrated Care Foundation Trust have occurred within the last two weeks, and one of those only two days ago.
In south Cumbria, the number of deaths reported by University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay Foundation Trust, which runs Furness General Hospital and a number of other hospitals, today stands at 166.
In the county's care homes, the number of coronavirus fatalities is currently thought to be 223.
Nationally, the UK death toll from Covid-19 has passed 42,600.
Figures for hospital deaths from the virus were revised across the country this week.
