A west Cumbria social enterprise is celebrating another success in helping its clients get access to the support they are entitled to.

Copeland Age and Advice Service, which first launched last year, provides information, advice and guidance to those over the age of 55 on financial and housing issues.

The community interest company, based in Cleator Moor, has recently received the support of three charitable funds: Copeland Community Fund; Cumbria Community Foundation and The National Lottery Community Fund.

A spokesman for the social enterprise said this week: "Thanks to our fantastic funders and our wonderful staff we have been able to obtain another great outcome for a lovely client.

"We helped this individual secure Employment Support Allowance (ESA) of £199.25 a fortnight and Personal Independence Payment (PIP) of £121.95 a week.

"Their partner was then able to claim Carers Allowance of £67.25 per week.

"In total we have increased their household weekly income by £288.83 with backdated monies paid totalling £4,527.50.

"As they are now unable to work due to their health issues, this money has been a much needed support for them."
