A POST office has announced that customers can now use an innovative all-in-one smartphone app as a way to make contact free payments in the store in the bid to reduce the spread of Covid-19.

The new Jisp app has gone live at Brampton Post Office, Front Street, and it aims to provide ‘frictionless’ shopping and remove the need for tills by using barcode scanning and electronic payment.

It is one of six shops across the country which has introduced it this week as part of a trial by the Federation of Independent Retailers.

The app also aims to give shoppers instant product information, including allergens and reviews.

Customers can browse what’s on offer in the store, add products to their basket, pay securely through their smartphone and choose to collect the order themselves or select home delivery.

Stuart Reddish, the Federation of Independent Retailers' national president, said: “The way customers shop is rapidly changing, especially since the Covid-19 lockdown and we, as independent retailers, cannot afford to stand still when it comes to enhancing the shopping experience and building loyalty. It’s a way to engage with customers, gaining a better understanding of their wants and needs.”
