Artists in Cumbria are being encouraged to enter a prestigious competition now its deadline has been extended as a result of the coronavirus disruption.

The New Lights Prize offers up to £10,000 to both emerging and established artists in the north of England, as well as the chance to have work form part of a touring exhibition that will include a stint at Tullie House in Carlisle.

The exhibition will also visit Scarborough, Newcastle and the Bankside Gallery in central London.

The original deadline for submissions was May 31, but that has now been extended until next Sunday, June 14, given the disruption caused by Covid-19.

Visit newlight-art.org.uk for more information on how to enter. Entries are open to all artists "born, based or who have studied in the north of England."
