Changes are under way to make many of the stores that were forced to close during the pandemic safe for reopening.

High streets have been like ghost towns while vast amounts of the public adhered to government restrictions of staying at home and staying safe.

However, for many businesses this has a huge impact on their ability to trade.

As restrictions start to ease many, non-essential shops have started to implement new ways of shopping with them in time for their reopening on June 15.

One of the many is Bron-ja of Wigton which has implemented steps to make it safe to enter the store which specialises in mother of the bride/groom and occasion wear.

A spokesman for the high-end ladies’ clothing and accessories store said: “In line with the new government announcement we’re reopening the shop on June 15.

“We will continue walk-in visits for casual and occasion wear where we can accommodate up to seven people at a time in the shop.

“We will operate a one-way system where each area will have designated zones to allow social distancing while browsing.

“When entering the shop you will be asked to hand sanitise put on a disposable face mask and 100 per cent cotton gloves for browsing and trying on clothes. Staff will also wear gloves and masks.

“All soft furnishings will be covered with wipeable fabrics and will be sanitised after each visit.”

The team is also offering people from the vulnerable category a chance to call and make an appointment outside of their opening times on 07417 356433.
