AN APPEAL for witnesses has been issued by police after a 72-year-old man was seriously injured in an accident on the A66 near Keswick.

It happened yesterday morning.

In a statement, Cumbria Constabulary said: “Police were called at around 11am to the report of a two vehicle road traffic collision on the Portinscale junction A66.

“The incident involved an HGV and a Citroen C1.

“The driver of the Citroen a 72-year-old man was taken to Preston hospital with suspected serious injuries. His condition is now described as stable.”

The HGV which was involved was uninjured.
