FIREFIGHTERS have had a busy weekend dealing with incidents across the borough.

Shortly after 11pm on Saturday firefighters attended a fire at a bin compound in East Lane, Runcorn.

Crews used two hose reels to put out the fire involving four to five industrial bins of rubbish. They then emptied the contents of the bins, turned over the rubbish and damped it down.

- At 10.33pm, firefighters were called to Highland Road in Runcorn following reports of a small fire involving logs and tree cuttings.

Crews used a hose reel jet to put out the fire.

- At 9.10pm firefighters were called to a grass fire on land off Baileys Lane, Widnes.

Crews used beaters to put out the fire which involved approximately 10 square metres of land.

- At 9.05pm fire crews were called to a fire involving bushes on a canal bank near Old quay Street, Runcorn. Crews used a hose reel to put out the fire.

- At 6.23pm crews attended a fire involving bushes on Wigg Island, Runcorn.

The fire was extinguished using a hose reel jet and a thermal imaging camera was used to check for fire spread. An area of approximately seven by 20 metres was damped down to ensure the fire didn't spread or reignite. 

- At 1.45pm, firefighters were called to a fire involving grass and hay on land off Windmill Hill Avenue in Runcorn. 

Crews used a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire which affected approximately 18 square metres of land.

- Meanwhile, at 6.59pm, on Friday, firefighters were called to a fire involving a large tree trunk on land off Lighthouse Road, Hale Village.

The affected area was well alight and crews used a hose reel to put out the fire and damp down the area affected.
