The government has issued advice to the public to control the spread of Covid-19.

As relaxed lockdown measures come into play on Monday, the government and local authorities have issued advice on face coverings and enclosed spaces.

In the event that public transport must be used, the public are advised to wear face coverings.

However, homemade coverings are encouraged rather than purchasing medical face masks which are being prioritised for NHS staff and carers.

Simple cloth masks can be made using material from an old T-shirt. Alternatively, bandanna's and scarves can be tied in place as long as loose ends are tucked away.

The latest advice from the government said: "A cloth face covering should cover your mouth and nose while allowing you to breathe comfortably.

"Wash your hands or use hand sanitiser before putting it on and taking it off and after use.

They said: "Do not touch the front of the face covering, or the part of the face covering that has been in contact with your mouth and nose."

The public are advised to wash their face covering regularly which can be done in the same load as other laundry with normal detergent.
