A LITTLE boy was delighted when a vintage bus arranged to make a special stop with a heartwarming message just to see him.

Before the lockdown began, six-year-old James, from Carlisle, loved nothing more than going to Carlisle bus station to watch the buses come in and out of the station, expanding his knowledge about each one he saw.

He has additional needs and has found it difficult to adjust to a new life during lockdown where he couldn’t enjoy his favourite activity.

So, he wrote a letter to Leave a Light On community group.

Rob Jones, managing director for Stagecoach Cumbria & North Lancashire, said: “When we were contacted by Leave a Light On to arrange a surprise for James, we wanted to do something extra special for him.

“Knowing he was such a fan of buses and missing his daily visits to Carlisle bus station, we decided to take one of our vintage Routemaster buses on a special journey up to see him to help bring some joy at this difficult time.

“We look forward to James returning down to the station for his daily visits once the time is right.”
