A COMMUNITY group has produced "carer" lanyards so that people can show their gratitude for their efforts.

Carlisle Covid-19 Community Help Group has produced the lanyards for anybody working in the care sector.

That could be in care homes or home visitors in both the private and public sector or those designated as family member carers.

Using a similar design and colour as the Government’s proposed carer lapel badges, these lanyards will identify care workers who are out there working on the front line day after day looking after the most vulnerable in society affected coronavirus.

Les Tickner, trustee and volunteer of the group, said: "By being able to recognise these key workers we can hopefully show them our appreciation by giving them priority in shopping queues and pharmacy queues.

"Remember they could be shopping several times a day and collecting prescriptions several times a day. This is time spent queuing when it should be time spent caring. We are providing these free of charge while our stocks last.
