A major electronics retailer in Carlisle is showing the love for key workers thanks to its electronic billboard.

Normally used for displaying its latest deals, the big screen on the outside of Peter Tyson, on Shaddongate, is now being used to show people’s support for essential workers.

The firm is continuing to operate online, but its physical store is closed to customers during lockdown so staff came up with an idea for an alternative use of the electronic billboard.

They are staying in touch with customers on social media and launched a competition for people to create a rainbow and the winning entries, chosen at random, are put on the big screen.

Peter Tyson said the competition has seen a huge amount of interest. People can still enter via its Facebook page.

Director PJ Tyson said: “This was a great collective idea.

“We have many customers who are key workers and we wanted to show our support of their outstanding work.

“What a fantastic response we’ve had and what a brilliant way to use our big screen to share the love.”
