Whitehaven coastguard rescue team have been called out to rescue a dog that had fallen in to Whitehaven harbour.
They were contacted by CGOC Belfast Coastguard on Monday afternoon, following reports of a dog having fallen from Whitehaven's West Pier on the seaward side.
Coastguard officers arrived quickly on the scene.
The dog was on a small ledge against the pier wall.
St Bees RNLI were requested to launch.
Officers took the decision not to deploy a rescue swimmer and to await the arrival of the RNLI. With a swimmer stood by ready to deploy if needed, the RNLI were directed to the dog's location.
The coastguard were pleased to report it was a happy outcome and the dog was rescued.
They said: "The dog owners done exactly the right thing by not entering the water and instead calling 999 for the Coastguard.
"We would urge dog walkers to keep their dogs on a leash when near cliff or harbour wall areas.
"In a coastal, sea or cliff emergency dial 999 and ask for the coastguard."
