An historic musical festival in Workington has had to be cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Workington Musical Festival, which is the oldest competitive festival to take place outside of Wales, was due to take place in early November at Workington's Carnegie Theatre, but will now not go ahead as planned.
The festival's chairman, Margaret McIntyre, said:
"Due to the unprecedented circumstances and the uncertainty for the future months, the festival committee has reluctantly taken the decision to cancel this years festival.
"This will be for dance, speech and music.
"It was a very difficult decision but the right one to take under the circumstances.
"Our syllabus was due to be issued at the end of this month for dance and at the beginning of May for verse and music, so we felt we had to make our decision earlier rather than later."
The festival will return again in 2021.
