If you have a hidden talent that you're mastering while isolated, why not show off your new-found, or longstanding skills?

Carnegie Theatre & Arts Centre is continuing the world of am-dram to battle the pandemic blues, encouraging everyone to get involved and show people what they can do.

And so Carnegie@Yam was born, featuring a new budding star each day to keep those stage lights shining bright even with the theatre closed.

"It's a way to let people show us all what they've got, and to see people do what they enjoy," Carnegie Trust chairman, Lee Martin-White said.

"We've had a lot of people getting involved – in about two or three days we had 28 videos sent in, and a lot of them are from young people wanting to take part, which is great."

But it's not just to help future stars get the recognition they deserve.

With theatre staff on furlough and the Carnegie trust being run by volunteers, with no shows taking place to keep the charity going, audiences are encouraged to donate to the trust to support the talent they're watching.

"It's about raising our presence and getting support from the community," Lee said.

"We had a really popular programme for this year, so with that in mind we want to continue the Carnegie in some way."

To those who want to take part but are worried about taking the leap, Lee had one simple message: "Have the confidence to do it – everyone is so supportive, so show us all what you've got!"

And with everyone welcome to take part, the charity hopes to see support continue to grow.
