Firefighters were called to get a veranda fire under control
Firefighters were called to action when a veranda was set alight.
Two crews attended the outbuilding fire on Hinnings Road, Distington just after 10pm last night.
A spokesman for Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service said: "Two Fire Engines were mobilised to an outbuilding fire on Hinnings Road, Distington.
"The fire involved a veranda and crews used two breathing apparatus and one hose reel jet to bring the incident under control."
They were at the scene for 45 minutes.
