A technical college in Workington is helping to provide NHS workers with Personal Protection Equipment to fight the spread of the Coronavirus.

After the Energy Coast UTC, of Lillyhall Workington, was forced to close it’s doors, staff and principal Cherry Tingle decided to focus efforts on supporting the fight against Covid-19.

UTC have donated hundreds of their goggles and face masks to NHS staff to help fight the spread of the virus.

Staff have also been using the college’s high-tech facilities to 3D print more protective equipment for doctors and nurses.

They have been supported in this by organisations such as Tech4 Office Equipment Limited, Skunkworks Engineering Ltd and Richard Rose Academy.

More individuals and companies have joined the project to 3D print them including Neil Kenny, Ian Wallacy, James Finnigan of Prozomix Ltd, Simon Price of Direct Rail Services and Derek Johnston of Precise Solutions. A fundraising page has been set up to support the continued printing of PPE. To donate visit: https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-keep-our-nhs-staff-safer
