Stretches of the A66 will be closed in the coming week to allow roadworks to take place.

Road resurfacing and re-marking works will be taking place on the major road, between junction 40 with the M6 and the Rheged roundabout.

The closures will be put in place overnight.

Lane closures will be put in place along this stretch of the A66 on Saturday night and Sunday night, between 8pm and 6am the following morning.

There will be no right turn for A66 eastbound traffic on the Rheged roundabout.

On Monday, the A66 eastbound from Newbiggin to M6 junction 40 will be closed from 9pm until 7am the next morning.

The road will be open for westbound traffic at the junction with the A592, at Rheged petrol station.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, from 9pm to 7am the A66 westbound will be closed from the M6 junction 40 Stainton. It will also be closed to traffic at the A592 junction leading to the Rheged petrol station.

The A66 eastbound will be open on Tuesday and Wednesday.

On Thursday, the A66 eastbound will be closed from Newbiggin to the M6 junction 40 from 9pm until 7am. The A66 westbound will be open, as will the A592 Rheged petrol station turning.
