Pupils at a small rural school have scooped a countywide business prize for best customer service.

Walton and Lees Hill School has won the title of best customer service in the Bright Stars competition for its business - the three Ps.

The school, which was sponsored by Cumbria Waste, worked on its business for months by holding different events.

The pupils got feedback from the people who attended the events which they then took on board to make their service even better moving forward.

Fiona Stobbart, the headteacher of the school, was thrilled with the result.

She said: “We were absolutely delighted. The children put so much work into it anyway so to get best customer service was really good.”

The school raised more than £1,100 over the course of the eight-week competition which inspires children to develop their leadership skills.

Half of the money raised by Walton and Lees Hill School will be donated to Hospice at Home.

The other half will be used by the school to put towards new play equipment.
