More than 100 cases of coronavirus have now been confirmed in Dorset.

The number of cases in the Dorset Council area have risen by nine to 54.

The number of cases in the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council area have risen by 12 to 51.

It means the overall number across the county is 105, an increase of 21 from the previous day.

It comes as a further 381 people have died as a result of the virus in the UK.  The UK death toll now stands at 1,789.

As of 9am on Tuesday, a total of 143,186 people have been tested, of which 25,150 were confirmed positive.

As of 5pm on Monday, of those hospitalised in the UK, 1,789 have died.

And 135 people have recovered from the virus, according to Public Health England.

The figures for test results and for deaths are compiled from different sources and this is why the figures for deaths are reported from an earlier point in time than the figures for test results.

Some people who report symptoms are not being tested - they are not included in these figures and therefore the number of cases is thought to be much higher.
