A DEVASTATING blow has been dealt to an annual village hall fundraiser after it was scrapped for this year.
The Blindcrake Parish Garden Safari, an annual fundraising event, will not go ahead until next year, as coronavirus grips the nation.
Unsure about what steps to take, Rachel McConkey for Blindcrake village hall management committee, said: “We are very sad to have had to make this decision, but it’s impossible to plan this without knowing what will be happening at the end of June.
“This event features about 12 open gardens, an art and craft exhibition, classic cars, plus teas in the village hall with home-made goodies available for purchase, and it’s the biggest annual fundraiser for Blindcrake village hall.
“We normally have visitors from all round the UK, and as far away as France, it’s a chance for all the people who live in the parish to join together and create this amazing event.”
