A SWEET message of thanks has been delivered to Carlisle’s refuse and recycling team.
The team received a card from a ten-year-old girl and her family who wanted to show their appreciation for the work that they are doing during the coronavirus lockdown.
It also encouraged them to stay safe.
The card reads: “We wanted to say thank you for the job you are doing and to let you know that you are appreciated.”
Household waste collection is ongoing in Carlisle but garden waste collection has been suspended.
People are asked to be mindful by washing their hands before putting out their bins.
Cllr Nigel Christian, portfolio holder for environment and transport, said: “We’re delighted that our refuse and recycling teams have received such a great deal of support during exceptionally difficult circumstances.
“They’ve received thank you cards and even a few rounds of applause when they’ve been working hard delivering critical services.”
“I’d like to pass on my personal thanks to all the staff from the City Council that have been working on the frontline and also those working behind the scenes to make sure we deliver the best services we can.”
