AGE UK West Cumbria has launched two new services to help support older people during the coronavirus outbreak.

They are offering a food parcel service, at £10 a pack. Each pack contains milk, bread, butter, cheese, potatoes, soup, fruit, crackers, biscuits, beans, orange juice and an activity pack.

They are delivered the next day to people’s doors. Delivery is free and the service is for people aged 55 and over in Allerdale and Copeland. Call them on 01900 844670.

Sainsbury’s is letting them shop during priority times to get the products for the packs.

They also have an information helpline to be able to reassure people on different issues, including loneliness, benefits advice and housing. The number is: 01900 233153 or 01900 233154.

The charity has had to suspend all face-to-face activity, which is their main form of income generation, at a time when their services have never been more in demand.

In order to continue to support older people in West Cumbria, they have set up a JustGiving page to help fund the services at: www.justgiving.com/campaign/ageukwestcumbira-coronavirus-appeal
