A West Cumbrian man has been handed a community order for assaulting a woman.
David James Webb, 38, of Eaglesfield Street, Maryport, pleaded guilty to the offence when he appeared at the magistrates court in Workington on Monday.
The court heard he assaulted a woman by beating her in Maryport on February 14.
Webb was ordered to complete 60 Rehabilitation Activity Requirement Days, pay a £120 fine and £50 compensation to his victim.
He must also pay a £90 victim surcharge and £85 court costs.
