Trains have been cancelled and delayed in West Cumbria after a landslip.

A landslip between Workington and Whitehaven means that all lines between these stations are blocked.

Disruption is expected to continue until the end of the day.

The Northern website says train services running through Workington and Whitehaven stations may be cancelled or delayed by up to 60 minutes. Disruption is expected until the end of the day.

It also says staff are onsite in the Parton area and have reported that repairs will take the rest of the day.

Replacement road transport will run as follows:

A coach will depart Whitehaven and call at Parton, Harrington and Workington every 30 minutes, this will be operated by Workington Heritage trust.

A coach will depart Workington and call at Harrington, Parton and Whitehaven every 30 minutes and will be operated by Travellers choice.

Coaches will run as a shuttle service in both directions between Whitehaven and Workington until further notice.

Train services will run between Barrow in Furness and Whitehaven, but will be subject to short notice delay and cancellation.

Train services will run between Workington and Carlisle, but will be subject to short notice delays and cancellations.
