Vandals who smashed the window of a Carlisle police station were swiftly caught after a foot chase.

A window was smashed on Sunday afternoon at the Shadygrove Road police station in Raffles, in what was described by a police spokesman as a "deliberate act".

The breaking of the window then triggered an "immediate" response from the PCSO in the station at the time.

Joined by officers who were nearby at the time, the suspects were given chase, with the police helped along by members of the public who pointed out in which direction the suspects had run.

Police caught up with the suspects after they had crossed Heysham Park nearby, and arrested them.

The police spokesman thanked the members of the public who had helped the officers by letting them know in which direction the suspects had run.
