AN UP-AND-COMING radio DJ experienced life at Radio One – and he can't wait to see what the future holds.

16-year-old Oliver Hodgson wowed presenters and audiences alike during his week-long slot on the popular radio channel, co-presenting with Adele Roberts and Arielle Free from 5.50am each day.

The Gosforth youngster spent his mornings last week playing his favourite tunes and chatting with Adele and Arielle, covering everything from Oliver's jam-packed life to the 40th Brit Awards.

And as being a radio star has always been his dream, the Platinum Live founder couldn't have loved the experience more.

"The week was utterly amazing," Oliver said. "Adele and Arielle were great, and so eager to get me on each morning, always having a chat before we go live was a nice touch.

"For those that know me know that Radio One has always been a dream, and hopefully this week counts for something and it will help me later on in life."

Although the highlight of his week was "chatting all-things-Brits" on Wednesday, of course Oliver enjoyed each and every second, and has grown massively in confidence since featuring as the week's resident DJ.

"The experience has reminded me that you can do anything you want to, even if you're from a quiet part of the country – just break those barriers and go for it!" he said.

"I also think this has given me some very credible contacts at Radio One, and I hope the experience will count for something in the future, which I'm sure it will."

Both Adele and broadcast journalist Jason Rushworth couldn't help but sing Oliver's praises, calling him "a natural", and branding him a "rising talent in the media industry [who] will soon become a household name".

Oliver added: "I'd like to pay a thanks to Radio One producers Amy and Thomas, and of course to Adele Roberts and Arielle Free for being so lovely.

"I would also like to say a big thank you to my mum, Caroline and father, Dale who never fail to show their support with everything that I do – they are pretty cool!"
