Repeated arson attacks at Egremont's recycling site has forced Copeland Council to begin looking for a more secure location.
The council took away the town's recycling banks from the Beck Green car park on Saturday.
The decision to remove the banks was taken under advice from the fire service after another arson incident at the site last week.
A Copeland council spokesman said: "The cardboard bank was once again set alight.
"The site has sadly been the target of arsonists many times.
"The repeated vandalism, coupled with a very high level of contamination, means that we will be removing the plastic bank too.
Each time, there is a significant cost incurred for cleaning out the card, disposing of it and repairing/repainting the bank.
"We are currently looking for a more secure location for our Egremont recycling site."
