A BURST water main has cut off water to scores of homes in Cumbria.
The incident is affecting homes to the west of Appleby, particularly around the villages of Colby and Hoff which are about a mile and a half apart.
The problem was reported by United Utilities at 7.42am this morning, Wednesday, February 19.
On the company's website it states: "We’re currently investigating an issue in your area which may mean you have no water or it’s coming out your tap as a trickle.
"We’re sorry for the inconvenience and hope to have your taps flowing again very soon.
"We’ll provide further updates when we know more about what is causing the problem."
A spokeswoman said engineers were on their way.
She added that they will restore supplies as soon as possible.
So far they have had around 10 calls from residents concerning the problem.
