PLANS for a 15-home development have been given the thumbs-up.

Proposals by house builder Taylor Wimpey to put up the homes on greenfield land south east of Durranhill Road, adjacent to Barley Edge, in Carlisle, were approved by Carlisle City Council on Monday, February 10.

According to the planning statement: "It is apparent from the application site is notable for its proximity to Carlisle.

"The land has been allocated for residential development in the knowledge, within the context of the visual boundary set by the M6 it would not be readily viewed as an incursion into the wider open countryside."

Ten of the houses will be four-bedroomed, two will be three-bedroomed and three will be two bedroomed homes.

The application also includes spaces for 34 cars.

Original proposals have been submitted in October 2018.

In March 2018 the developer had been given permission to build 198 homes nearby to "Create a looser form of development to represent a neat rounding of the city."
