OVER four in five NHS frontline staff have been vaccinated against the winter flu say health chiefs.

North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust say that 81 per cent of staff have now had the jab.

This has beat the nationwide NHS target of 80 per cent.

Anna Stabler, chief nurse, said: "This not only protects them against flu but also protects their family, friends and most importantly, our patients.

“This is all down to the hard work of our Occupational Health and Wellbeing team and vaccinators.

"They have not only been holding the usual drop in sessions but have also been visiting wards during the week and out of hours, offering the jab to staff .

“Planning for the 2020-21 flu vaccination campaign has already began - we’ll look at more ways to encourage our staff to get vaccinated.”

The campaign was launched in October and runs until the end of March.
