A community service grant of £300 was presented to West House from Mayor of Workington, Councillor Janet King.

The money will go towards the £38,000 needed to buy their care home a minibus.

Residents from Briarfield Care Home, Stainburn, went to the Town Hall, with staff and family, and enjoyed tea and cake with the Mayor, before being handed the cheque.

The charity is West Cumbria’s leading care and support provider for adults and children with learning disabilities.

Their vision is for children, young people and adults with learning and other disabilities in Cumbria to live a fulfilling life, in the way they want and with the support they choose. They currently support over 200 adults and over 150 children at home and in the community.
