Police are urging vehicle owners to be vigilant following a series of thefts in Longtown.

Five vehicles were targeted overnight from Monday until Tuesday, on Raefield and Moor Road, with property stolen from inside.

The thefts on Raefield included glasses that were taken from a car and CDs and clothes were stolen from a Citroen C4.

On Moor Road, a handbag, cash, and cards were taken from a vehicle.

PC Sam Butler said: “Investigations are underway into these thefts.

“We also want to make vehicle owners aware so they can take the necessary precautions to protect themselves.

“Please make sure your vehicles are locked and secured when you leave them.

“We would also ask people not to leave anything valuable inside.”
