West Lakes Teaching School are one of only 11 providers selected to support the delivery of Chartered College of Teaching’s Chartered Teacher Programme.

Applications has now opened for teachers to be amongst the first Cumbrian cohort studying to have Chartered Teachers (CTeach) status.

The teaching school were selected by the Chartered College of Teaching to deliver this teacher programme in the north.

As a provider, West Lakes Teaching School will play a crucial role in working with teachers across the north to achieve Chartered Teacher Status with the launch of the next cohort in April. This includes supporting teachers with training opportunities and highly-skilled mentors.

Abby Deeks, director of West Lakes Teaching School, said: “We are delighted to be working with the Chartered College of Teaching to bring the prestigious Chartered Teacher Programme to the north. This is a fantastic opportunity for staff from across our region to access high quality CPD locally. We can’t wait to meet our first cohort of teachers.”

The programme recognises an individual’s excellent knowledge and practice as a teacher along with a commitment to professional growth. The first 98 teachers in the country to be awarded Chartered Teacher status graduated last July.
