An event to celebrate International Women's Day will be held in Penrith next month.

On Wednesday, March 4, female entrepreneurs will gather at a business conference hosted by Pink Link.

International Women's Day is backed by the UN and this year's theme is #EachforEqual, a call to accelerate gender balance – socially, economically, politically and culturally.

The Penrith event, at Roundthorn Country House, will aim to connect women in business.

Organisers say it will combine networking, exhibitor stands and speakers.

They added: "There will be plenty of opportunities for women to make new connections, generate leads and grow their business."

The speakers include Rosie Dummer, known as the Cake Diva, who went from being the first female helicopter pilot in the British Army to appearing on Channel 4’s Extreme Cake Makers.

After leaving the army to raise her family, she now has over a million followers on social media thanks to her cake-making skills.

Rosie also works with a host of celebrities and travels the world presenting cake shows.

Catherine Houlihan, head of news of ITV Border has over 20 years’ experience in newspapers and TV.

She will be sharing her journey of her success in what has traditionally been a male-dominated industry.

Coral Horn, founder of Pink Link, said “We love Cumbria and we wanted to give women a platform to make expand their network and promote their business.

"We would welcome the opportunity to meet more like-minded women to share ideas and be inspired.”
