WORK has been carried out to inspect and repair a 'dangerous' town centre building.
Operatives from Allerdale Council carried out checks to a property on High Street in Wigton on Friday.
The inspection led to a temporary closure of the road while the necessary checks were carried out.
A spokesman from Allerdale Council told the News & Star: "The road was closed between 5pm and 5.30pm on Friday.
"All the work was done then and the road won't need any further closures.
"Apologies for any inconvenience."
The spokesman revealed that a chimney had been damaged, but had been made safe by workers at the council that day.
Motorists and businesses affected by the brief closure have been thanked for their patience.
It comes after a public notice was issued by the council on Friday urging residents to avoid the area as inspections took place.
