A fundraiser for Hospice at Home West Cumbria raised more than £2,000 at its ‘Big Hospice Quiz.’

Mike Milner from Seaton was quizmaster for the night and over 180 quizzers filled the atrium at Energus for the event. They had travelled from all over West Cumbria to support the charity and enjoy some competitive fun.

Teams of up to six took part, with cash prizes available for first, second and third place. There was also a raffle and grid game available. The winning team donated the majority of their winnings back to the charity.

Rhianna Smith, events co-ordinator at Energus, said: “Energus were delighted to work with Hospice at Home as the venue for The Big Hospice Quiz. Hospice at Home took up the 10 for 10 offer, where Energus offered free hire of the fantastic atrium for any registered charity. The turnout was incredible, and you could really tell by the atmosphere that everyone was having a fun and relaxed evening. We’re so pleased that Hospice at Home raised such a brilliant amount from this event, as the work they do for the local area really is important and appreciated by many. We hope to work with them again soon!”

Mike Milner had put together the quiz for the event which included a picture round, and covered a broad range of other topics.

He said: “I thoroughly enjoyed setting the questions and delivering The Big Hospice Quiz on Saturday night. There was a great buzz in the room and all the teams made a superb effort answering the questions. Hopefully everyone enjoyed the night raising money for this really worthy local charity”.

Emma O’Neill, from ‘The wishful thinkers’ said: “It was such a brilliant night. My friends and I had so much fun whilst raising money for a great cause, we hope that Hospice at Home West Cumbria will do this again in the future as we would definitely attend again.”

Gemma Bell, fundraiser for Hospice at Home said: “This was our first time hosting ‘The Big Hospice Quiz’ and we are delighted with its success. It was a brilliant night and everyone who came got really stuck into the questions and you could see it was quite competitive, but in a really fun way! I would like to thank Energus for providing us with such a fantastic venue and all their staff, along with our hospice volunteers who worked incredibly hard to make sure everyone had a great time”.

Hospice at Home West Cumbria thanked all the local businesses that supported ‘The Big Hospice Quiz’, by donating raffle prizes.
