A YOUNG Wigton woman has appeared before a court accused of "recklessly" disclosing personal data while she worked for Cumbria Police.

Genna Fowler, 25, from Spittal Farm, Wigton, is alleged to have done this without the consent of her controller.

She also allegedly caused a computer to secure unauthorised access to a program or data.

Prosecutors say she committed the two offences between May 4 and May 17 last year.

At Carlisle's Rickergate Magistrates' Court, the defendant, represented by defence lawyer Christian Harbinson, denied both offences.

No further details of the allegations were outlined.

Prosecutor Pam Ward said the case would best be dealt with at the city's crown court.

District Judge Gerald Chalk sent the case to that court for a hearing on February 24.

The defendant was granted bail.
