A collapsed drain is the reason a popular Wetherspoon has closed its doors to the public, bosses have revealed.
A sign was seen on the doors of The Dog Beck pub on Southend Road in Penrith yesterday informing customers that the bar would be closed until further notice.
Responding to a request from the News & Star, a spokesman for the pub said: "United Utilities have been working on the drains outside, one of which has collapsed.
"This has caused waste coming up through the pub into the cellar and also the customer area. The issue was being worked on last night and hopefully will soon be resolved, we won’t know (how bad the problem is) until today.
"Also we will have to have a full professional clean once resolved."
