TWO fire engines were called to a house fire caused by a discarded cigarette.
Crews from Carlisle East and Carlisle West spent an hour and a half tackling the fire, which was contained to the living room of a home on Newlands Road area of Carlisle.
They were called at about 6am this morning (Jan 18) to the fire.
Firefighters used a hose reel jet, breathing apparatus and a Positive Pressure Ventilation fan.
A spokesman for Carlisle East Fire Station said no one was hurt, but were it not for working smoke alarms it could have been a lot worse.
