After a devastating fire which saw the popular Hartside Cafe burn to the ground, the new owners have given permission for an outdoor cafe to open.

Nick Thomas the owner of Saddleback's, which is a converted horse trailer, he describes as an outdoor cafe said: " It's an honor to be able to go up there its such an iconic place.

"We're going to try and get up there as often as we can but it will be weather depending as we all know what it can be like on the top.

Wanting to offer something unique Mr Thomas refurbished the trailer and now supplies local produce including Carvetii Coffee.

Admitting the challenges that face him he said: "I can't promise to be up at Hartside all the time and I don't want to disappoint people the weather is changeable, I would urge people to check my Facebook before they come.

"I'm looking forward to being part of Hartside and seeing what the new owners have planned in the future."

The horse box style cafe will be opening for the first time today between 10am and 2pm at Hartside pass.
