Staff at Carlisle Cathedral have revealed the wide range of nationalities the city site attracts.
Over the course of 2019, visitors to the early medieval cathedral came from as far and wide as Nigeria, New Zealand and Israel.
The city place of worship also brings in visitors from closer to home, for example, from the Isle of Man.
Throughout 2019, the most common nationality of foreign visitors through the cathedral doors, according to the cathedral's visitor book, was American.
This was followed by visitors from Australia, then Canada and New Zealand.
Fifth most common was visitors from Japan.
So far this year, the cathedral has received visitors from as far flung as Costa Rica, The Philippines, Argentina and South Korea.
