A SCHOOL is holding a maths day, with the hope of encouraging teachers to make the subject fun while raising cash for the NSPCC.

The 2020 NSPCC Number Day marks the nationwide event’s 20th anniversary, and takes place on February 7.

Ashfield School, in Workington, joins 3,500 schools who have participated since the launch, raising close to £2m for the children’s charity. Funds raised have supported services such as Childline.

Ashfield School teacher Caroline Gibson said: “We are really pleased to be celebrating Number Day again this year, raising money to support a great cause.”

NSPCC schools service manager Karen Walker added: “Number Day has raised an incredible amount of money over the past 19 years and we are so grateful to all schools that have got involved.”
