THE Met Office have revealed that snow will fall in parts of the county today.
As temperatures plummet, snow is expected on higher ground this morning, followed by a band of heavy rain pushing in from the south of the country later in the day.
Carlisle will reach a high of six degrees, and a low of minus two.
Elsewhere, Alston is most likely to see snowfall, with temperatures dipping to a chilly minus four, rising to a high of two degrees.
Grahame Madge, a Met Office spokesman, said: “Snow was forecast for Cumbria overnight.
"However, the snow is expected to occur mainly above elevations of 300 to 400 metres, where we may accumulations of between five and 10cm.
“At lower elevations, we’re forecasting rain, some of which may be heavy at times.”
