A PEDESTRIAN has died after a late-night crash on the A69.
Police were called at 10.15pm on Tuesday to a report of a crash on the road between Corby hill and Hayton.
It involved a black Volkswagen Golf and a pedestrian.
A spokesman from Cumbria Police said: "As a result of the collision, the pedestrian, a local man aged in his 40s, died at the scene.
"His family have been informed and a Family Liaison Officer has been appointed.
"The occupant of the car was uninjured.
"The road was closed for several hours whilst a forensic collision investigation and recovery was carried out."
Witnesses who saw the crash, or saw a pedestrian walking in the carriage way have been asked to contact police.
